Philanthropy
through the arts

I am extremely passionate about theatre and performance, but philanthropic art also gets my blood pumping. At The University of Alabama, I served as the Artistic Director of Alpha Psi Omega-Gamma Gamma Cast's Annual Philanthropy Concert: Greater Giving (2021, 2022). Through this experience, I have found that using performance as a means to serve my community is one of the most beautiful things I can do on this Earth. I hope to continue to use the passion I have found in serving as Artistic Director when sharing my soul on and off stage. Below are some pictures from Greater Giving (2022) and a more in depth explanation into what the concert means to me.

Greater Giving is APO's annual philanthropy concert benefiting, Five Horizons Health Services. Five Horizons raises awareness for HIV/AIDS and provides health services to those in need no matter their race, religion, sexuality, gender identity, or ethnicity. Greater Giving offers students the opportunity to perform and/or create their own work to be put on a main stage. These works can incorporate any style or type of performance as long as it contributes to the artistic vision.

While I am not seen on stage in a performance of Greater Giving, the experience of serving through the arts has informed much of who I am as a performer today. The concert has given me perspective on why art is important and how theatre has the power to change lives. For more information, visit: https://apogammagammaua.weebly.com/greater-giving.html
